I have quick tip for you today. Actually I have to credit this one to my wife Shilpi.
Being a stay at home entrepreneur I just LOVE working all day in in boxers and a T-shirt! LOL
However, my wife, who’s now done with school and at home, notices that when she dresses sharp, as if she was going to a formal work environment, she gets a LOT more done.
As CRAZY as this may sound, the way you dress effects your attitude and your self confidence.
I took Shilpi’s advice and noticed an immediate difference in my personal productivity.
As much as you may love dressing down at home, when you’re at your computer working on your business, dress up, at least business casual. You owe it to yourself and your business.
This little trick will also help you create a MENTAL seperate between your business and your personal life. Trust me this is REALLY important if you work from home.
Hi Ami
I totally agree.
In fact on some days when I work from home, dressed in shorts / t-shirt etc and have been slacking a bit I have been known to change into semi-formal business gear to improve my productivity levels. It works for me.
It’s amazing what can change your attitude. Sitting up straight as well instead of slouching also improves my productivity.

Although it’s difficult to argue with a guy who makes about 1000x per day what I make, I have to disagree.
Test it yourself and if it works for you, then sure… definitely do it. For me, I find no dependence on what I wear which affects my mindset or my effectiveness.
I personally write this post off as “op ed”.
if he is saying something , just listen up. May be you haven’t tried it. Do it today and then see if you find any difference.
In Tony Robbins speak, you have an emotional/mental association to your clothes and wearing them induces a state change, and bring the powerful emotions you’d associate with wearing your work clothes.
A suit can be especially empowering (although a little uncomfortable).
Amit,
GREAT point. It is absolutely true. What you wear has a lot of influence on your frame of mind.

Great – I am also a HOMe-WORKER – most of the time.
I always wear “home-casuals” and take things also “casualy” . Your views has opned my “eyes”. From now on I will waer FORMALS when I work from Home. WORK IS WORK – EVEN MORE SO – WHEN YOU ARE WORKING FROM HIME OFFICE ! Thankx to Shilpi.
I can relate to this 100%, having a good mental state effects what you do in every way.
When I go to work and I’m dressed down I seem to be less productive than if i was dressed up.
I also find this to be very true! Great work, Amit. I will never work from my computer in my boxer shorts every again!
Amit,
That is so real. I actually noticed the diffrence since I have been working at home for the last one month.
Always wondered why all the sales letters talk about working in your shirts. LOL.
What you have just learned i know it from ages.
Hey Bakshi,
I saw your response to another commentor here, leave your attitude outside this blog, dude.
Cheer up.
